Tex
Written by Fallon Russell
The Textiles course has taught me to take risks, make a statement and to experiment with a variety of unique materials to create abstract and inspiring pieces.
The staff from the whole department are so supportive and encourage you to increase your skill set, to experiment, to use the facilities that are provided so that you can incorporate aspects of photography, graphics and art into your textiles projects. They’re always there to help you attain your best grades and I don’t think I would’ve generated the work I did if it wasn’t for their encouragement.
The course will influence my future massively as I have learnt to push myself when I face challenges and boundaries, and this has allowed me to overcome my anxieties and create a portfolio of work which I am proud of that I will use throughout my fashion design degree at university and my career.
Throughout the pandemic I have missed the normality of college, so I have resorted to using the skills I have learnt to up-cycle old clothes into new pieces that are currently trending, as well as completing an online fashion illustration course to further develop the skills gained studying Textiles.
